Models are people with special facial and body features. They display garments at fashion shows, in magazine advertisements and on television.

In South Africa modelling is usually done on a part time basis. Only a few can afford to do full-time modelling. Most Models do either fashion shows or advertisements for magazines.

Fashion shows are held countrywide. The Models usually practice for a day or two at the centre where the fashion show is held.

A Model can do advertising in almost any place in the world. First the advertising agency decides what they want and then they choose a Model according to these criteria.

Models normally join a Model Agency that negotiates contracts on their behalf.
